Research
Mathematical Modeling and computer-assisted simulations have become indispensable research methods in many branches of science. Innovative models lead to the successful solution of problems which were not amenable to traditional methods. The University Graz is cooperating within this research core area on an international level.
The research core area „Modeling and Simulation“ focuses on the development of innovative methods to solve complex problems in a novel way.
The involved scientists at the University Graz and their cooperating partners specialize hereby on statistical and stochastic methods, optimization, parameter estimations, experimental design and high-performance computing. The groups representing the research core area cooperate successfully in one or several of these topics with regional and international partners.
Currently 18 research groups from 15 institutes and centers at three faculties of the University Graz are participating in this research core area. They cooperate closely with groups at the Graz University of Technology and
at the Medical University of Graz, whose special fields harmonise with existing competences. Existing networks with leading research groups at an international level guarantees the competitiveness of the research performed in this core area.
